- [Instructor] Part of what makes WordPress so popular is its extensibility. Themes and Plugins give you a ton of options to customize the design, feature set and overall experience. Once you install WordPress, you'll have a fully-functioning website. Out of the box, WordPress comes with a theme and some basic features. But you can customize basically any aspect through themes and Plugins. Let's look at themes first. Themes control the design and user experience of your website and only that. When looking for a theme, you should make sure it doesn't add any functionality. That's what Plugins are for. As you decide what you want in a theme, determine the number one goal of your website and the main action you want your users to take.
