- [Instructor] It's a good idea to tie the public profiles of the users on your internet site to the registered user accounts on your WordPress site, because then you have one user management system that controls everything from access to information, and there's only one place to update information. However, the user management system inside WordPress collects very little data. And not a lot of that data is useful to us if we want to build a custom user directory. If I go to the backend of WordPress here for a second and look at my own profile, you'll see what I'm talking about. WordPress out of the box captures my first name and last name and nickname, and then allows me to define what I want to display my name publicly as. I also have an email address, a website, and biographical information, and I can add a profile picture, but that's it. What about extra information or other types of information that I want to add?…
