- [Instructor] While there are lots of benefits to creating new custom post types with their own URLs and organization structure, there's a lot more you can do with them. Often times you'll find custom post types aren't just the new types themselves but they have custom fields or custom data associated with them. We create new post types because they're housing data that's not necessarily relevant to a post or a page but how do we add that extra data? Well, there are a few ways. First, WordPress does have native support for custom metafields. If you add that support to your post type via the support argument, you'll see a new metabox on the post edit page. You can add one off custom fields that way but this can get a bit tedious as there are other, more robust ways to add custom field support. The most popular way is with Advanced Custom Fields.
