- [Instructor] Turning over a building that is well designed and built for a high quality indoor environment is a great start. However there are many pollutants and contaminants that are introduced to indoors during building operations. For example cleaning products and equipment is one area that needs attention during building occupancy. Studies link good cleaning practices to reduced illnesses, doctors visits and absenteeism by 24 to 46%. The LEED rating system for existing buildings encourage building operators to implement effective cleaning procedures while reducing environmental effects of cleaning products, procedures and equipment to minimize contaminants harmful to human health.
