Indoor air quality management during construction

- [Voiceover] Construction activities cause significant dust and other quotients if not planned and managed correctly. The LEED ratings system addresses indoor air quality management during construction by requiring an indoor air quality management plan. Indoor air quality management during construction protects building occupants from airborne pollutants associated with construction, as well as construction workers from toxins and dust during the build out. The general contractor prepares an IAQ management plan by following the best practices based on five categories of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning National Contractors Association, SMACNA, IAQ guidelines for occupied buildings under construction. These five categories are, HVAC protection, source control, pathway interruption, housekeeping, and scheduling.
