Indoor water use reduction

- [Instructor] The LEED rating system addresses indoor water use by a prerequsite that mandates a minimum amount of reduction and a credit that rewards points for further reductions and replacing potable water with alternative water sources. Both the prerequsite and the credit requirements cover indoor plumbing fixtures such as toilets, shower heads, and lavatory faucets, in addition to appliances and equipment such as washers, ice machines, and cooling towers. The LEED prerequsite for indoor water use reduction also requires that all newly installed toilets, urinals, private lavatory faucets, and shower heads are WaterSense labeled. For international projects, a local equivalent to the WaterSense label is acceptable. The WaterSense label helps consumers identify water-efficient products and programs that meet WaterSense water efficiency and performance criteria.
