- [Instructor] The Location and Transportation category is all about a building's location. LEED credits under this category encourage locating projects on sites with the least impact on sensitive lands. Previously developed sites with access to alternative transportation and diverse uses such as restaurants and grocery stores are rewarded with multiple points. Most of the credits that fall under the Location and Transportation category aim to conserve land, protect farmland, and wildlife habitats by building in areas with existing infrastructure, while promoting walkability and reduced vehicle use. Many Location and Transportation credits reverse contribution to climate change by replacing single occupancy vehicles with walking, cycling, or public transit. These credits also improve public health by encouraging daily physical activity.
