- [Instructor] An intranet site is one of very few situations where there's a good chance WordPress does not have access to the internet. This produces some unique challenges worth exploring. You see, WordPress is a web publishing platform and within that title there's an implicit assumption the web, as in the world wide web, is always available. WordPress relies on an internet connection for updates, plugin and theme installs and other features, but its main feature, content management, is built to work even without the internet. That's why we can use it for closed intranets. If your intranet is closed off from the outside world you need to have a plan in place for maintenance of your WordPress site. The best way to ensure your site and its plugins and themes are always up-to-date is to setup a duplicate of the intranet site on a computer that can be connected to the internet to detect updates and perform manual updates…
