Prerequisites for this course
- [Instructor] Because this course is about a REST API, it is, by default, an intermediate to advanced course. And to get the most out of what's covered, it's important that you have the right prerequisites in place. First off, you need a good understanding of how to use, publish with, and configure WordPress itself, and you need some experience working with WordPress code and themes and plugins. The code examples in this course are mostly modern JavaScript, so some experience writing JavaScript is expected, but you don't need to know anything about JavaScript libraries or modules or anything like that. We're just writing straight up JavaScript. Finally, having an understanding of what REST APIs are and how they work before you start this course will make things a lot easier to grasp. To get in the right frame of mind, I recommend watching the course Learning REST APIs before diving into the specifics of the WordPress REST API.
