Secure your WordPress site by disabling directory indexing and browsing - WordPress Tutorial
From the course: WordPress: Building a Secure Site
Secure your WordPress site by disabling directory indexing and browsing
- [Instructor] Directory browsing can be used by hackers to find out if you have any files with known vulnerabilities so that they can take advantage of those files to gain access to the website. They can view your files, copy images, find out your directory structure and more. This is why it's highly recommended that you turn off directory indexing and browsing. The way to do this is fairly straightforward. Find the htaccess file in your website's root directory. After that, all you need to do is add the following line at the end of the htaccess file. Save the file and you are done.
