- [Instructor] Remember all your website is is a series of specifically coded and named and organized files and folders. You want to make sure that only certain people have access to change, remove, or add to the files and folders that make up your website. Securing your WordPress site by tightening file and folder permissions, it's a very good idea and it's a pretty easy to do. First, locate the directory or file you want to set permissions for. Right-click on it and choose File Permissions. In the popup screen that appears, select the permissions that you want. And the pop-up might look something like this. There's also another method. You can log into your cPanel within your hosting account and go to the File Manager. Select the directory or file you want to manage and click Change Permissions.
