- [Instructor] Location, location, location. A sustainable project starts with choosing the right location before any design, construction or operational strategies are considered. A well-located building provides triple bottom-line benefits, which are economic, environmental and social benefits. For example, a building that is walking distance from various amenities such as stores and public transit will likely provide additional rent premiums and marketability while providing its occupants health benefits, due to the opportunity for daily exercise while walking to a bus or their favorite restaurant. The environmental benefits are various. But the most significant ones are utilizing previously developed lands that already have infrastructure instead of building on green fields or other sensitive lands. The greenhouse gas emissions would also be reduced significantly due to driving less and not building a brand new infrastructure. There are two concepts that I'd like to discuss before…
