- [Presenter] During construction operations, erosion and sedimentation have severe impacts on natural resources, such as habitats, wetlands, and other water bodies. Although more sustainable site strategies focus on site design, the one and only site-related prerequisite for LEED, for new construction and major renovation projects, mandates project teams to implement erosion and sedimentation control strategies. This prerequisite is called construction activity pollution prevention, and requires measures that reduce air, soil, and water pollution during construction activities. During construction, especially during site clearing and excavation activities, construction sites become very vulnerable to storm water runoff, due to disturbed soils. Dust, pollution, and dirt, carried away to the roads by construction equipment, also need to be managed.
