- [Instructor] I've mentioned widgets a couple of times. Some of you have may noticed that in the sidebar for my customizer, there's currently no option for widgets. That's because I'm using a beta version of the 2019 theme. I'm recording this course before the theme is fully complete and at this point, there are no widgets in the theme. There may be widgets in the theme by the time you see this course, but right now there are none. But I want to show you how widgets work, so I'm going to do that in this demo theme. Widgets are small tools you can add to posts and page content and to so-called widgetized areas of your sites. If the current theme has widgetized areas like a sidebar or a footer, the customizer will show a widgets option. This demo theme here has a widgetized area, it's in the sidebar and you can see the widgets on the side here. We have a search widget, a recent posts widget, a recent comments widget, and so on, and that's the reason why we also have the widgets appear…
