Deciding on hollow or solid 3D prints

Depending on several factors, you may or may not want to make your 3D prints hollow. In this video I'll go over the various considerations and situations that go into making this decision. Let's see what those factors are. So, for some models like Howard here, he has a very obvious place to put an escape hole; in the base underneath. However, with this penguin there's really not such an obvious place to put the escape hole. So, you might not want to make the penguin hollow because putting an escape hole in him would just be awkward. Another consideration is the material type. So, for example, on the left we have an example of what you might get from a maker bot or one of the other fused filament type printers. Now those types of printers actually don't need to be hollow because the way they print automatically creates an in-fill on the inside. In the middle we have an example of full color printing, which may or may not benefit greatly from being hollow. And on the right we have an…
