Decimating to reduce polygon count
- [Instructor] When we DynaMesh the models to soften the edges, it created very heavy meshes with millions of polygons. This can cause a problem by slowing down your computer or making it hard to export into KeyShot. In this video, I'll show you how to remove unnecessary geometry without losing detail. Okay, so let's zoom in on a part of the model that we DynaMeshed in the last video. I'm going to turn on the wireframe so we can see what's happening with the polygons and you can see there are a lot of polygons. So, this is using up a lot of memory, this is using up a lot of computing power, so let's DynaMesh this. I'm going to go up into Z plugin. We'll go to Decimation Master and now we want to Pre-process Current. So, what it's doing right now is it's thinking about the polygons and it's trying to find some that are expendable. Some of the polygons are contributing to the shape and the detail and others are not contributing so much. So, it's going through and evaluating which ones…
