Making masks

- [Instructor] There are times when you want to make a part of your model protected, so that it won't be affected by any sculpting or editing. This is often done with masking, it's one of the most commonly used features in ZBrush. So let's dive in. Now the most basic way to create a mask is to simply paint it on, and this is done by holding down control, and then your brush switches to the mask pen by default, and then you can just paint wherever you want the mask to be. So let's say we want to protect this part of the lat muscle structure here. And now if we release the control key and we go and sculpt in here, we can create effects that do not affect the masked area. Now it's easy to invert the mask, to do that simply hold down control and click in an open area.
