Masking with Smart Transpose

- Previously in the course, I have shown you how you can use the gizmo or transpose line to create a mask that follows the shape of the model, but there's another type of transpose line that lets you mask in a new and interesting way. Let's look into it. So just to refresh our memories, let me show you the traditional way to do this. You would go into the gizmo, and you'd simply hold down control and click and drag, and what it'll do is create a mask that sort of wraps around whatever shape that you're trying to follow. It works especially well for selecting things like limbs, arms, fingers, things like that. Let's go ahead and undo this, just get back to a model without any masking on it. Now, there's a different type of transpose line. Let's hit B to bring up our brushes, and you can come down here and see there's transpose, there's also transpose smart, so let's click that.
