- The 2018 upgrade of ZBrush includes several new ways to automate the creation of PolyGroups. Besides PolyGroup it, there is a new algorithm for the classic PolyGroup By Normal feature. In this video, I'll demonstrate the difference. So let's try to create some automatic PolyGroups for this character here. I'm gonna go into solo mode to hide everything but the body and let's hit Shift + F to turn on our wireframe. So you can see it's all one PolyGroup. Now let's come down to PolyGroups. So Group By Normals is a classic feature that up until now did not have this little circle right here. So this switch is the algorithm, it's just two different ways that it can calculate this and it's based on a maximum angle tolerance. So let's just see what happens if we click on this. Now it looks like we didn't create any new PolyGroups and that's probably because there aren't any Polygons in this model that have an angle that's less than 32 degrees.
