Sculpting the branch

Sculpting the branch

- [Instructor] Now, I'm ready to tackle the branch. Let's go back to our model. I'm going to isolate the branch. Before I get started with the actual wood grain, I need to, obviously, do a little bit of massing on the model, and just get that kind of working a little bit better for me. Also, messing with the clay tubes with the square alpha turned on works really well when it comes to wood. Let me show you what I mean. I'm going to switch over to the geometry. In this case, if I start to smooth, just pay attention to what happens to the cylinder. If I start to divide with the smooth turned on, I'm going to really get this rounded edge to the wood. Although it's going in the glove, that's not necessarily a problem, but I want to bring that back for a moment. In this case, I want to just turn off smooth the first time, and then divide. I want a little bit of a harder edge. I don't mind having a little bit of a chamfer, or a chiseled edge on the wood itself. That's going to actually help…
