Setup and rough base mesh
- Finally, we're at the beginning of the more practical part of this course. In this video, we're going to set up the base mesh for a head of a creature. Keep in mind that iteration and saving time are concepts that are at the core of this kitbashing technique, so I would encourage you to produce multiple base meshes with a variety of shapes and interesting silhouettes that you can reuse. In this video, I'm gonna create just one, but you can repeat the same process and make 10 or 100. To start off, go ahead and select a Sphere 3D from the Tool thumbnail. Great, let's now convert it into a PolyMesh3D from this Make PolyMesh3D button. Also, let's make sure that you have Symmetry enabled. You can take that from the Transform palette here, and also let's select the Move Elastic Brush. So the shortcut would be B-M-E, right? And to finish this quick setup, let's hold Ctrl to access the Masking brushes, and while you hold the Ctrl key, click on the Mask Brush thumbnail and we're going to use…
