Subdividing only part of a model

- When we subdivide a model, it's usually because we want more detail or more resolution to work with. Sometimes we only need to create fine detail in a small portion of the model. But if we subdivide the whole thing, it might create so many polygons that your computer can't handle it. In this video, I'll show you how to create more resolution in a small part of a model while leaving the rest of the model low poly. Okay, so we've got a model of Athena here and let's zoom in on the base and let's say that we want to put an engraved name of Athena here on the base and we only want to put it here on this one flat section. Let's hit Shift + F to look at the wireframe. So you can see it's relatively low poly. Let's isolate just this one section so that we can add detail here without having to subdivide the entire model. So I'm going to come around to my side view. Let's turn off perspective so that we see this at a perfectly orthogonal view. Let's zoom in here and I'm going to hold down…
