- [Instructor] You have just completed your model, and are ready to add textures and more details through a tool like Substance Painter. You can't just send your model to Substance from ZBrush, as you will get a bunch of errors. There are a few steps involved to successfully transfer your assets for texturing inside of Substance. The first step is to make sure your topology is top notch. And that is typically done through retopology inside of your main 3D software, such as Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, et cetera. This process is useful in making sure your topology is clean for UV mapping and texturing. Then the following step is UV mapping. This will allow Substance to place the textures on your model. This again is done inside of Maya or similar programs. Zbrush offers a tool to do UV mapping, and it does it good job, but typically the workflow is to approach retopology and UV mapping inside of your main 3D software package, and then move to texturing inside of Substance.
