Using normal maps in ZBrush

- [Instructor] Normal maps are used to fake the process of lighting inside bumps and dents. Let's say you have a brick wall. The normal map would determine how the light reacts to the cracks and different depths or elevations of each brick. And in ZBrush you can create a normal map for your models. Let's explore this. So the first thing I'm going to do is bring up light box by doing comma and then click on demo soldier. What I'm going to do next is go into the sub tools and then make sure that I have only the body selected so I'm going to do shift-click and then the first thing you need to do before you go down and create your normal map is work in the geometry here. So, basically the way you create a normal map is in between the first subdivision level that you select and the highest resolution. So if you want to have a really detailed normal map, you need to create more subdivision levels here. So let's say four or…
