- [Instructor] Brushes create interesting effects all on their own, but many of them can be combined with a 2D image to create even more detail. Images that are used to drive brush detail are called alphas. Let's see how to use them. So we've got our standard brush active. And let's click on alpha, which is currently off. There's a lot of them built into ZBrush. You can pick any one here to create an interesting effect. Let's pick Alpha 05. Okay, go ahead and brush on and see what happens. So pretty straightforward. It's just stamping out copies of that alpha as the brush moves across the surface. Let's go ahead and undo that and try a different effect. Under the stroke menu and under modifiers, we can turn on an option called roll. So what this does is it rolls through the copies of the alpha so that they don't overlap, but rather, it finishes one copy of it before moving on to another copy. If we hit Control + Z to…
