Adjusting exposure compensation

- Exposure compensation is very useful and quite powerful. It's going to become one of your most used options when shooting. What it's really good for is when you're shooting in high contrast situations, where the situation, like the background, is throwing off the light meter. This is particularly true if you're shooting on a bright background, like a pure white background, like we have here. This black background. Now typically, the camera tries to push things towards a gray. So that white backdrop becomes a light gray and the black backdrop becomes a dark gray. In this case, if you look closely you'll notice that the exposure compensation was set to negative one. I did that before we started shooting. Normally, it's going to be here in the middle. And so, in this case you could see a bit of difference. Notice in the backdrop how it is black, but off to the sides there's additional black. That's because we have a…
