Auxiliary view

- [Instructor] Creating in auxiliary view in SOLIDWORKS is similar to making a projected view, but instead you're relying on a reference edge to orient the view and then fold it over. In this example, I've got some text that I've etched down into a part and you can see here if I convert this to hidden lines visible, that it cuts through but it's at about a 45 degree angle. I want to give some dimensions to the manufacturer but my standard orthogonal views, the front right and top are not giving me what I need. So I'm going to go up to auxiliary view and if we hover over it, we get the definition. Adds a view by unfolding a new view from a linear entity. So an edge, basically a sketch line. We're going to click on auxiliary view and we're going to select a reference edge to continue. So right now, I don't have an edge in there. So what I should do is draw one in and start from that instead of selecting one of the edges…
