- When managing uncertainty, your entire organization is going through a form of collective trauma. Now trauma might feel like an intense word, but actually any time we experience fear or anxiety, it signals to our brain that a form of trauma has occurred. Remember this, you cannot possibly know what your employees are going through outside of the workplace in processing a crisis. There could be situations happening at home that elevate their crisis or trauma response, and make this uncertain time even harder to deal with. Raising your level of awareness about what could be going on with your employees is the first step to cultivating empathy, and therefore communicating with empathy.
