Dimensioning tips: Symmetric and repeated features
- [Instructors] Patterns and symmetrical features are common in mechanical design because symmetry can often distribute stress more uniformly within parts. In this video, we'll give you some specific tips for correctly representing patterns of features and symmetrical parts. When joining parts together with fasteners, it is common to use multiple bolts in a circle for a stronger, more uniform connection. When dimensioning bolt circles, the center mark of each hole should be directed radially towards the center of the pattern. The center marks are connected in the pitch circle diameter of the circular pattern is specified. Then the spacing between holes is given as well as the clocking of the pattern with respect to the rest of the part.
