Diving into foundational research

- When you think about UX Research, you might think of usability tests and assessing how easy or not something is to use. That sort of evaluation is great. Let's see, we (indistinct) something that's already built but what if you're starting from scratch and working on a brand new thing or what have you have something that you know isn't working well for your users but you're not sure why. In those cases, you need to explore and define the problems faced, opportunities and potential users. The research that helps us do that is what we call Foundational Research. This kind of research can also help us uncover opportunities with our existing users and products or brand new areas to tackle. Let's discuss the uses of Foundational Research and how it's different from evaluation, commonly used methods and how to best infuse that knowledge into your teams so you can use that data.
