Downloading your user manual

- In this course we're going to be talking about a variety of cameras to help bring you the skills to life. Now, each camera is a little bit different, and from time to time the camera manufacturer will release updates to the firmware. Essentially this is a software upgrade that runs inside your camera. So it's always a good idea to download the electronic version of your user manual. For example, to your phone or tablet. This way it's going to be quite useful, because the one you have in the box may not be up-to-date. Keep in mind that if your camera software or firmware has been updated, it's likely that your manual has been updated. So this is a good time to pull down that update. The benefit of having the user manual is that you're able to look things up. So if we reference a term or terminology or cite a menu item, it might be in a slightly different place within your camera. The electronic version is really easy to search through. You don't have to rely upon just the table of contents. You can use a find command in something like a PDF to quickly locate key information. Fortunately, what you're going to learn in this course is really the key concepts. And you'll see that they're quite universal. While I shoot on certain platforms more than others, I find that these days I'm quite comfortable picking up just about any piece of gear and getting great results. A great way to not feel lost or overwhelmed is to keep your user manual around. Download it to your computer, put it on your smartphone, and that way when you're out shooting on location, you can quickly look something up, and you don't need an Internet connection to do so. All right, go ahead and download the manual for your camera, and let's begin to explore some of our lessons.
