Editing sheet format

- [Instructor] When you begin a new drawing in SolidWorks, sometimes you don't pick the right size, or based on the template that you pull up, you want to make some changes, let's say, to what the title block looks like. You want to change the proprietary and confidentiality note down below. There are a lot of things you might want to change. Using SolidWorks properties and some of the Edit Sheet features, we can do this very quickly. So first thing that I want to approach in this particular example is that I have a drawing with my four views and it doesn't quite fit onto this A-size Landscape drawing. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to right-click in the middle of the screen, go down to the double arrows here to expand to see the entire menu, and I'm going to click on Properties. This pulls up the drawing properties. Right now, I'm using an A Landscape drawing template. I'm going to switch this down to a B Landscape drawing template and hit Apply Changes. When I do that you can see that the sheet in the back changes, and I have a lot more space on the drawing to play with. I can put my isometric view up in the top-right corner, I can drag the other views, and then begin dimensioning accordingly. Now, if I want to change the layout of this particular format or this sheet, I can right-click again and go to Edit Sheet Format. When I click on this it takes me into a new layer where now I'm editing the sheet. You'll know that that's going on because up in the top you'll see this little icon that shows the Exit Sheet icon. Just like you're doing when you exit a sketch or when you exit another feature, you're inside of the Edit Sheet mode, and then you're going to exit that when you're done making the changes. So for example, I'm going to go down here. I don't want to have all these extra comments or this note so I'm going to select these items and delete them. I'm going to go over to Skecth and Trim, trim out all these line items. Oop, I went too far. I'm going to hit Control + Z, which you can do. Try again, get a nice clean trim without hitting that bottom boarder. All right, just a couple more notes to select. Holding down Control, I click on each of those and hit Delete and now I'm all done. I've got a little bit smaller template with all the information that I need on it. I'm going to go ahead and click Exit Edit Sheet. Now I'm back in the drawing mode, if you will, and you can see here you can toggle by going to Edit Sheet Format, or while you're in the format, right-click again and do Edit Sheet. So you're switching between the sheet and the format.
