Finding mass properties
- [Narrator] The weight of something is defined by the volume, as well as, the density of the material. Now if I want to find the mass properties of this kettle bell shape that I defined, you can come over here to mass properties. Click on it and you can see here I've got a mass of nine point nine nine pounds. The only problem is, is I didn't apply a material. So the mass of this thing makes no sense. Because I don't even know what material this thing is made of. In fact, neither does SOLIDWORKS. So if you look up material it says not specified. So I'm not sure what material it applied to this thing, or how he even came up with that number but we got to make sure that we are applying the correct material, to get the right mass properties. So over here under material, let's come down here and say edit material. And I want to make this thing out of iron. Let's do some ductile, cast iron, so gray cast iron, click on apply.
