- I first started teaching photography in the late 90s, and as you might expect, since then the technology has changed a lot. But I think there has been an equally dramatic change in the basic skill level of the typical photographer. To put it simply, the average shooter is better today than the average shooter of 25 years ago, and I think that's simply because everyone's shooting a lot more, and more practice makes you better. There's a downside to this increased skill level, though. It means that most people are more informed, more intelligent, harsher critics. Therefore, it pays to keep up your own photographic game. This week on "The Practicing Photographer", we're going to look at five things you can look out for so that you don't look like a photographic idiot. Number one: don't do too much in the frame.
