How to use construction cost data

- [Chris] Are you a tradesperson who is making the jump to estimating in project management? Or maybe you are in the building design field and are trying to better budget the costs of your projects. Maybe you're a building owner, manager, or a developer, and you want to use more accurate methods of deriving construction and renovation costs. If you are any of these, then this course is for you. We will focus on the elements of construction cost data, including labor units, labor costs, material types, and material costs. We will talk about using RSMeans cost data, one of the leading cost data sources of its kind. We will examine RSMeans printed material and use their innovative online web tool called RSMeans Online. From there, we will select different types of materials, material assemblies, equipment, and construction activities and examine the fine details of what they are and how they apply to job costing. My name's Chris Randall. I have been a construction estimator for over 20 years. I began my career as an electrician in the field and then came into the office to estimate and manage projects. It is there that I discovered the better you understand the exact meaning of the construction data that you are dealing with, the better you can explain and apply the data for your project. So let's dig into the specifics of construction cost data.
