Importance of training

- In your organization is training treated as a cost or an investment? Training provides three key functions. First, training can serve as an influencer and a reminder of what is expected. It reminds people of consequences and that in turn can mitigate major incidents. Secondly, training focuses on addressing the source of problems. It's what's inside a person that shapes their actions and how they behave. And thirdly, sometimes training fulfills a legal necessity. The most common areas are sexual harassment, discrimination, and safety. Now safety's easy to understand. US federal law requires employers to provide training. OSHA requires it. As far as sexual harassment, companies are held liable. In the US the Supreme Court states that every company must exercise reasonable care to prevent and promptly correct any such harassing behavior in the workplace.
