Installing the Substance plug-ins
- [Instructor] Now let's turn our attention to Adobe's Substance. Now, Substance is a suite of applications that help you to create highly realistic materials, and it can be used in a number of different applications. So if we take a look at the Substance website, you can see that we have Substance Painter, which allows you to paint textures onto a surface, Substance Alchemist, which is a way of creating your own materials, Substance Designer goes a little bit deeper in creating your materials, and then there's a standard library called Substance Source. Now, in order to use Substance in Maya or any other application, you do need to have the proper plug-in. Now, Maya does ship with a Substance plug-in. But if you want to, you can go to substance3d.com and search for plug-ins, and you should be able to find the plug-in for Maya here.
