Joining and splitting paths

- [Instructor] Let's take a look at how to join and split paths in Inkscape. In my file, let's say I wanted to connect these two segments right here. First, I need to take the node tool, and select them by Shift + clicking on both paths, and then drag over the nodes that I want to join, and then to join them, I'll press Shift + J. And notice how the position of the two nodes was averaged. If I don't want that to happen, and I want to keep the position of one of the nodes, I can repeat the process over here, again by selecting the paths, and the nodes, and this time, before I press Shift + J, I'll place my cursor over the node that I want to keep, like this one at the top, and then I'll press Shift + J. If you want to join nodes with a new segment, and preserve both of the existing nodes, select them, and press Alt + J. Now, to break a path at a node, select that node, and press Shift + B.
