Linking sketches to other parts

- [Instructor] One of the most powerful things you can do inside of SolidWorks is linking one component to another component. In this case here I'd like the cap of this assembly to match the bottom. So if I make the lower part larger the cap will automatically resize to always be the correct size. Let me show you how that works. So if I go ahead and open up this cap right here, you can see here I've got a revolve, it's pretty simple. And here's my sketch. Go ahead and edit the sketch and you can see here the diameter of this cap is defined by this dimension right here. So three inch dimension. That's pretty much the one we want to drive with the assembly. So let's go back out of this component here, head back over to the assembly, and now let's go ahead and make an edit to the part in the assembly. So notice we just opened the part individually and made an edit or open at least that sketch to see what was going on. Now you can actually change that value inside of the assembly. So…
