- [Natalie] Some photos look amazing straight out of the camera, but others like this one, not so much. In fact, you might even wonder why I took it. Simply, I saw the potential and I knew I could enhance it in post. Let me show you what I did to take it from here to here. In the first two photos, I'll show you how commonly used Lightroom techniques really made a difference. And then I'll use a third example to take you step by step through more advanced techniques that dramatically improve an image. I knew there was some great texture in this scene, and I liked the dramatic sky. I adjusted black to add definition, increased shadows and decreased highlights. I boosted contrast and then increased exposure. I increased clarity to make the textures of the beach and the forest pop. I warmed it up slightly and increased saturation. To darken the sky, I added a gradient. I pulled down the exposure and reduced the highlights…
