Remember

- Perhaps one of the most coveted things people want, but perhaps the most difficult to achieve is a perfect recall of an event in their lives, a loved one's face, the way a positive experience felt, or simply facts about something that matters for their life or work such as the steps to a complex task or a discussion or agreement they had with someone about something important. The technology I'm going to introduce you to in this course has the ability to help people do something that we all wish we could do better, remember. Reality capture is a technology process that takes a real environment or physical object and replicates it digitally. It's a technology that makes the intangible tangible. Imagine a world where you can have the people you care about be with you in a room even when they're in another country, or perhaps have even passed on? Maybe having the ability to completely recall a place where you had one of the best memories of your life, the one that sort of took your breath away, through a technology where you're standing in that actual space again in such a realistic way that you have a visceral experience. Some of these concepts are a reality, while others are not far off from today's technological ability. In this course, I'll be focusing on applications for reality capture, specifically in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction, or AEC industries. I'll focus on how you can use consumer level hardware and software to capture and recreate the reality around you and deliver this data in a relatively simple format that even an inexperienced person could understand. As you'll learn in this LinkedIn Learning course, recalling or sharing something, especially something complex such as thousands of measurements in a space is actually something that is extremely useful to all AEC professionals. My name is Paul Tice, and I'm a consultant for reality capture technologies. I got here through over decade of trial and error, burning the midnight oil and testing, testing, testing. I've listened very carefully to my clients' pain points in a variety of industries, and this course is the extensive knowledge I've gathered that I now want to share with you. You'll learn how technological tools can provide aid to our innate propensity to forget, and will support us on that critical brain function that we all wish we could do better, and that is to remember.
