- [Instructor] The backbone of an engineering drawing is the views. And they form the foundation on which dimensions and tolerances are placed. In this video we'll show you how to choose views that clearly and accurately illustrate the design and where to place them on the page to convey the three dimensional orientation of features. To help illustrate this concept, we'll start a drawing for this bracket. We'll begin by picking a side of the part to be the primary view. We can technically choose any side, but it's usually best to pick the one in which the part is most recognizable. For this bracket, it's probably this side. There are other features on other sides of the part too. So we need to add some additional views that depict them and 3D CAD makes this process really easy.
