- Now that the cameras turned on, the lens and memory card are attached and we've got a stable platform, let's take a few shots to make sure that everything is working. First up, make sure that the camera is powered on. Now, we'll change the cameras mode into a simple mode where it makes all of the decisions. Take your command dial on the top and cycle through the different modes. As you make those changes, you'll see different options appear or letters and I'm just turning that until it goes to auto or iauto. This might be called different things, but it's usually indicated with the green shooting position or a green bar. Now, this is just a starting point. We're going to use this intelligent auto mode to let the camera make all of the choices. But later on, you'll learn about manual controls.
