Use cases for 3D scanning

- In the AEC space specifically, there are many uses for 3D scanning, which can include but are not limited to progress reporting through 3D visualization, taking measurements to verify installation locations and nearly limitless others. The primary takeaway is that 3D scanning produces rich, photorealistic imagery represented as billions of 3D data points that can be measured. So most anything you can imagine that needs to be measured in the physical world regardless of complexity, can probably be done quickly and accurately with 3D scanning. Here are a few examples. Clearance verification for new installations, or for objects to pass through, such as roadway clearances. An engineering feat to note was planning how the Space Shuttle would move through the streets of LA and identifying clearances with mobile scanning.
