Using flexible program mode

- Well, program mode tends to set the shutter speed and aperture automatically based upon the ISO, you can still influence this a bit. You're able to try out different combinations of shutter speed and aperture by just rotating the command dial. Each of these combinations will still be properly exposed, but you can influence what happens either dragging the shutter to extend a motion or tightening it up to really sharpen it. Plus this will affect the depth of field as well. This gives you the ability to make a change and this is often referred to as flexible program mode. In this case, after I have pressed the shutter button and it measures, I can turn the top command dial. Notice how the aperture changed as did the shutter speed. This particular lens goes to F4 and that went to a really fast shutter. Maybe I want to deepen the shot and I take it to F22. And you see it's now a 40th of a second, but the exposure did not…
