Using a teleconverter or extender to modify your lenses

- Depending upon the lens manufacturer, you may find that a teleconverter is available. It generally though will affect the performance of the lens, knocking it down a stop or two affecting how it does with the aperture. Now this particular lens we've attached a teleconverter to, and what it's doing is a 1.4 magnification. That means it's taking this lens that originally topped out at 150 and it extends it by a multiple of 1.4. Now it's effectively a 200 millimeter lens. And with the crop factor, that's really a 400 millimeter lens. It's a simple addition, you see here, it's a slight magnifier. This just then tucks into the lens and latches into place. And now we can attach it like any other lens to the camera. Now normally with a large lens like this, you'd use the foot on it, but I'll just support it by hand. Line up the red dots, just like before, and twist, then you could rotate the foot into place as needed for…
