What you should know

- [Instructor] If you're taking this course, you should have a beginner's understanding of construction estimating, the construction discipline you work in and have some experience in construction management. If you're not yet familiar with what an estimator, quantity surveyor or other type of job costing professional does, check our library of courses on those topics. You should be able to read and comprehend the written components of a construction estimate or bill of material. As is true with all construction estimating, you should have a working knowledge of the trade or trades that you're estimating or costing. For this part of the course, we will primarily be using printed cost data from RSMeans and we will be using the RSMeans Online, a web-based application that provides the user with requested data. If you subscribe to that service, I encourage you to follow along with me as I demonstrate it.
