What’s your productivity style?

(upbeat music) - Before you touch one office supply, let's take a step back, or rather, a step inside. Don't worry, I won't get too woo woo on you, but indulge me for a second. Before we can design a really great usable space to be your most amazing, we need to determine how you work best. Then we'll be able to go crazy with the sticky notes, and we'll get ya an office plant, I promise. But this is all about your personal productivity style. Here's how to figure it out. Think about when you're on fire and able to tackle any task that comes your way. Really picture it. You may want to pause this video for about 10 minutes to think it through. Once you've got it in your mind, answer these questions. Number one, what time of day do feel most productive? I'm never going to tell you to become a morning person if you're not one. Trust me, I've tried it, it made me really cranky. Now I design my entire schedule around working in the afternoon when I feel my most efficient. Question number two, what's around you? Think about the lighting, how many people are in the room, are you facing a window? All of that matters. Question number three, what do you hear? Are you the type who needs to be in complete silence to get work done? Or do you work better when there's some music, or even the television on? Make a note of that. All these questions are designed to get you thinking about your most ideal work situation. So gather up all those answers. What picture does it paint? Well my picture shows that I'm an afternoon and evening person, I work best alone with lots of light, and a little background noise. But I have a client who's a morning person. She loves to work around other people, she listens to music while she works. But what about you? Don't shy away from what works best. Don't try to be like someone else. This is your style. Don't waste your time changing yourself, lean into your tendencies and get down to work. Life's too short to change habits that you just don't need to change. Now, with that in mind, we can design your personalized remote office together.
