Working with swatches
- [Instructor] Color swatches can make it a lot faster and easier for you to apply the colors you want in your Inkscape documents, so let's spend a little time seeing how to create, apply and modify swatches. In the Fill and Stroke dialogue, there's a row of buttons for applying various types of fills and strokes. So if I select an object and go to fill, I can see this row right here. So I can choose from flat colors, gradients, patterns, and this button here is for swatches. This is great because it allows you to apply color quickly and consistently to different objects. So with my green object here selected and filled with the color that I want, I'll click this button, and at first, my swatch is given a numerical name, but I can click on it and change it to something descriptive like green. Now notice if I de-select my square, my swatch disappears and you might wonder how to apply it to another object. But…
