Write clear notes for a complete product definition
- [Instructor] While we normally think of drawing requirements in terms of dimensions and tolerances, there are many engineering specifications that can't be conveyed with a symbol dimension. In this video, we'll give you some examples of common uses for drawing notes, some guidelines for effective communication, as well as some boilerplate note language you can adapt for your own drawings. There are two primary types of notes, general notes and local notes. General notes apply to the entire part or assembly and typically control things like material and coating specifications, edge breaks, and any additional information required to interpret the drawing. General notes are presented in a numbered list in one corner of the first sheet of the drawing. Notes can also be separated in the drawing in its own document called a notes list. Local notes apply only to specific features or regions on the part, which you point to…
